Alexandra Thomas of Orlando, Florida, is the 2016 recipient of the P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to one or more high school seniors with financial need, a certified language-related learning difference, and artistic talent who plan a career in the visual arts.
Alex will be attending Emory & Henry College in Virginia to be a pre-kindergarten teacher, incorporating art rotation daily and including painting, Play-Doh, stringing beads, crayons, shaving cream, and more media through which her students will be able to get in touch with their artistic sides. Three words Alex chose to describe herself were “awareness, purpose, and focused”. Alex is planning to earn a Master’s in Education alongside her Bachelor’s degree. In spite of her learning differences, Alex graduated from high school with a 3.71 GPA, as well as being a student athlete.
