1999 Scholarship Recipients Named
Springtime for students is also known as scholarship time. The Society is pleased to announce the 1999 recipients of both of its awards.

Panama Project Addresses Students' Needs
The Society's program to bring the teaching of the English language to the Indian children of Panama is off to a great start. It began in September as an after-school class for the elementary school children on Isla Carenero, the small island in the province of Bocas del Toro, where Pat spends a few months each year painting in quiet seclusion.

Society Sends Books to Panama
The Society has come to the aid of the Panamanian Indian children who live on Isla Carenero, the island where Pat and Malcolm now have a home. These children and their parents want to learn to speak English, because without English they are unable to find jobs in the tourist industry, the chief source of employment in the area.

1998 Harbison Award Scholarship Recipient
Glowing recommendations resulted in the selection of Mary Steepleton as the recipient of the first P. Buckley Moss Society -- Anne and Matt Harbison Award. She will receive $1,000 to assist with her studies in Horse Production and Management at Ohio State University.
