2006 Harbison Scholarship Recipient
Amanda Merrill from Highland Village, Texas, plans to major in education at Brigham Young University and specialize in helping children with learning disabilities. In addition to maintaining an excellent GPA, she has sought a well-rounded education by participating in a variety of service organizations, church activities, and athletics. She has worked part time with children who struggle with obesity as well as tutored children at an educational center.

Ohio Regional 2006 Chapter Training Successful
“The Secret Garden,” discovering the secret to chapter growth and success, was the theme of the regional chapter training session on August 11 at Archbold, Ohio. Forty-four people representing eight chapters enjoyed the day’s sessions. Special thanks go to Trees of Life chapter members for their tremendous help in organizing and running the event with Peggy Goodwin’s committee.

Williamsburg Convention Dinner & Tour
The P. Buckley Moss Society is sponsoring a dinner/legends tour and a dinner/dance at the September 2006 Williamsburg Moss Convention.

2006 Cary Scholarship Recipient
The tenth recipient of the Cary Leadership Memorial Scholarship is Elissa Francis of Thousand Oaks, California. A 2004 graduate of California Lutheran University with a degree in psychology, she is now working on her master’s degree in special education plus teaching credential at California State University, Northridge.

Brooches Have Been Popular Society Items
When the first president of the P. Buckley Moss Society, Anne Harbison, traveled to Europe during the 1980’s, she purchased a porcelain brooch. As she considered what would be a great incentive for membership renewal, she recalled how much she enjoyed that brooch and contacted Klaus Vogt of Anna-Perenna, producers of Pat’s fine porcelain plates.

Floyd Boothe Receives 2006 Presidents' Award
Floyd G. Boothe, the fourth recipient of the Society’s Presidents’ Award, epitomizes the qualities that define this award. Since his retirement in 1989, he has become an extraordinary volunteer and advocate for children.

Annual Board Report for 2006
As of October 31, 2006, donations of art and cash made by the Society during 2006 exceeded $57,000. This amount includes 394 fundraising events supported by donations from the Charity Print Collection valued at $37,475; the 216 events completed in 2006 that have reported their results have raised over $114,000.

2006 Moss Trip Visits Spectacular Southwest
Twenty Moss collectors spent a week visiting New Mexico and Colorado in September. They enjoyed seeing spectacular scenery while getting to know one another as well as the 14 members of the Virginia chapter of National Active and Retired Federal Employees who also made the trip.
